Stk. 1904  1957 Chevrolet Bel Air

Every classic car has a story behind it…and so does this stunning example. Originally built in Atlanta, Georgia as a VC code Bel Air Sport Coupe, it was painted India Ivory and Onyx Black over a 676 Black and Red trim interior. It eventually shipped to a Chevy dealer in Troy, NC; where our first owner promptly purchased it.  He drove and maintained it right up to the point where he could drive no more. The car sat for twenty-six years in the original owner's garage until he passed away where it eventually passed into the custody of a trusted friend. When that friend decided to sell the Bel Air to our third and current owner, it had accumulated only 68,532 original miles. After coming out of such a long slumber, the new owner decided to give this Chevy a complete and thorough make-over. The Asheboro Body Shop and Junior Needham were given the nod to perform the frame-on restoration. The undercarriage was in wonderful condition and the body required very minor metal work to its lower panels…so the next step was to media blast the entire shell down to bare metal. It was refinished in Vanilla Shake as a single color finish rather than mimicking its original two-tone style. Its stainless steel trim was refurbished and its stylish original bumpers re-chromed to absolute perfection. A few liberties were taken in updating the exterior; an L.E.D third brake light, recessed into the gold Vee-trim of the trunk lid offers both safety and style as does the chromed 17" Coys five-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in aggressive 235/45 front and 265/35 rear Nexen rubber. Powering this dreamboat is a 350 cubic inch ZZ4 crate motor equipped with a steel four-bolt main block and topped off with aluminum heads, intake and an F.A.S.T fuel-injection system tweaked by Paul Powell Performance. Channeling all 355 horsepower is a four-speed 700R4 transmission spinning a 3.73:1 rear end. The suspension was completely redone and a pair of 2 ½ "drop spindles were also added to offer a much more aggressive stance. Rather than mess with success, the original style cloth and vinyl interior was retained with all new materials throughout. Some very subtle upgrades include a billet dash panel and pedal set, tilt steering, air conditioning and a gleaming red and chrome 1960 Impala steering wheel to cap it off.  The only thing missing is you behind the wheel.   Call 800-650-1055 or visit our website at www.autobarnclassiccars.com for more information.
